Against the EULA, but as far as selling the key from a legal stance, Im pretty sure its legal as long as you haven't used it. Not sure for sure though.

If you contact NCsoft and ask thme to delete your account then you are free to sell the game as used despite what it says on the box.You can not sell a cd key as that would be copyright infringment.

If you've not even used the key, there's no account created. So long as you're not trying to pawn off a stolen key, then go ahead. You're not breaking any real law and just buying a program doesn't automatically mean you've agreed to the EULA (pretty sure about that bit)

Will Anet do that? Seems like a lot of work for them with no profit.

Yes, because you have not accepted any EULA to start with.

Here is a good rule of thumb:

If it is opened, it is used. If it is unopened, it is new.

If you buy an unopened box (reguardless of where you bought it), it is legal. If you buy a box that has been opened, it is considered "used", and violates EULA.

Oh I'm sure a lawyer or two would have something unflattering to say about "you opened this box therefore you agree to the license inside, which you haven't even read yet" defence...

yup thats clear...

but for the sake of arguement... assuming a cd key hasn't been activated.... like many others have said even if the eula says its illegal it is NOT there has been no agreement because the cdkey has been unused...

there is no copyright infringment like one person said because there is NO COPYING of any amterial going on it would be an origional unused cdkey retail or otherwise it can be sold...

the onlything that would make it illegal is if the irs found out that whoever resold it did not pay taxes on the money they recieved from selling it... still laughable though, like the irs gives a crap about small time crap like that...

i dont care what any eula or tos says if it is unactivated there is no eula/tos to use and it isnt an illegal copy it would be an original

The EULA does not make selling cd-keys illegal Anywhere, it does however give anet permission to cut off your account

the EULA is about as useful in a courtroom as a peice of toilet paper

not to mention with the advent of purchaseable character slots, in some areas of the word it is very, very shady as to wether anet is allowed to ban your account after your purchase them, it can be considered by some courts theft of property (yes i know its not a real item, but that isnt the point)

still, only an idiot buys a cd key second hand

I had a lucky friend in my guild that got 2 CD-Keys in his box. And he used it. It's against the Eula, I am sure.

How the hell is anyone gonna find out? If they do, you are screwed. But really there is no chance unless you announce it to the world.

Like you did here, on this forum.

Why can't people just answer in a basic way.

If the game is already registered it can't be sold/handed over

If not it can.

No, you cannot take a "used" account and ask us to take the time to clear it from the records and "reset" it for resale. You cannot sell a used game at all. Once the key has been activated, it's unsaleable.

BTW, one of the largest sources of support tickets comes from people buying a used account and then finding the seller has reclaimed the account, leaving the new buyer with nothing. It's call scamming. And it can take a lot of wasted time and effort to figure out who owns what. In cases where the initial purchaser tries to recover the game, and the secondary buyer tries to claim that which he's paid for, somebody is going to lose. That is one of the reasons why we do not support secondary sales, because it wastes support time that we would rather spend fixing the game or helping those who aren't trying to do something shady.

Am I clear now? I once tried to buy a secondary acount to play gvgs. And I got scammed for 700k (propechies + factions + lots of unlocks).
Did you know that you don't need give your account name and password to anybody because they can do new account instead to play game.

Hell no. I'm 19. I only did it to save some cash as here it goes for 20 euros more than the official price

How would they ever know? All they're gonna see is a change in e-mail address and password. Being a wee bit paranoid, I've done that on my account twice...

But then again, it would be wrong, and your future grandchildren would hate you for doing it.

Seriously, I wouldn't do it because I did agree to the EULA, and to me, doing something you've already agreed not to do would be immoral.

They may also note a change in IP address, or the fact that all the characters on the account were deleted, as well as their belongings were suddenly sold / given away. If you have access to a server, it's pretty easy to tell when an account has changed hands.

No, they need to prove that. e.g.: When I move to another part of the country I most probably change provider, get a new IP and a new Email adres. When I decide to leave the old computer behind and buy a new one, I also would have a new computer configuration, and the need to re-install GW... Is that illegal? Do I have to prove I'm the same person first? Of course not!

so the EULA stated that we can't sell our account... but what if we switch a different computer or location would they think that our account is in someone's hand?
